CE Requirements for Texas Substance Abuse Counselor

How many CE units does Texas require?

AADC, ADC, ACPS, CPS, CCDS, CCS, CSC, APS: 40 hours every 2 years. PRSS, PM/PRC, MHPS, RSPS, PSS: 20 hours every 2 years. LADC with Master’s degree: 24 hours every 2 years.

Additional Information

6 hours HIV, Hepatitis C and sexually transmitted diseases. AADC: 3 hours ethics, 3 hours clinical supervision. CCS, CSC: 6 hours clinical supervision. CCGC: 6 hours related to gambling. PRSS, PM/PRC, RSPS: 6 hours ethics. MHPS: 3 hours ethics. Human Trafficking Course-This course has not been approved by TX

PSS: 6 hours peer supervision and leadership training. NAADAC courses accepted. Independent study or distance learning courses must be guided and monitored by the instructor and include an evaluation of performance and/or participation verification. Also, the course must be structured so that students have access to faculty or instructors for questions and assistance in the completion of such course work.
